There are certain NABH consultants, who have only Entry Level NABH knowledge. If you are going for Main NABH Accreditation, please make sure your NABH consultant has enough experience of MAIN NABH consulting, and has faced Main NABH assessments.

Get as many references of clients as possible and talk to them. Temperament and attitude of the consultant you hire is very important, as the consultant has to work with you, & your entire team and staff for a few months. Synergy between your NABH consultant and your organization is very important.

Talk to as many doctors/clients of your consultant, as this will also give you an idea of challenges they faced, and strengths and weaknesses of your consultant if any. A good feedback from the references will also boost your confidence, and will help you trust your NABH consultant more.

Make sure the proposal given to you has all the charges explained properly, and that there are no hidden charges put forth by the consultant. It is important to understand that consulting charges are different than NABH official charges and the assessor expenses borne by the hospital. It is good to clarify these charges upfront.

Make sure your NABH consultant is transparent and ethical, and plans to genuinely improve the quality of your hospital. Do not fall prey to any over commitments, any misconceptions, and unethical advice given by any potential consultant. This also includes the timeline for getting the NABH certification done.

If your consultant boasts to get NABH done without due diligence, or gives you an extremely short timeline to get you the NABH done, then take it as a red signal and be very cautious before moving ahead.

There are freelancer NABH consultants, one person NABH company, and NABH consultant companies who have years of experience and a team of in-house experts.

Security of your project

If anything happens to a freelance NABH consultant, your NABH project is in jeopardy. As a NABH consultant company, Medigence is approached by many hospitals, who are stuck either at the start of their NABH project or half way, because their freelance NABH consultant either joined somewhere full time, had a better opportunity somewhere else, got sick, or stopped communicating with the hospital totally.

Continuity of your project

There are one person NABH consultant companies in the market, who project themselves as a NABH consultant company but actually know nothing about NABH.

These one person companies take the project and then sub contract the project to someone else. In most cases these projects fail, because of the lack of direct communication, and sub contractors not interested in following up with the projects, because of the very low per project price they get. In other words, these sub contractors are just like freelance consultants, and come with the same set of issues and challenges.

Security and reliability of your NABH project, is the biggest advantage you get, by hiring an NABH consultant company, instead of a freelance consultant.

Consistent Progress

At Medigence, we have a robust project management system, and knowledge transfer using project management software. So if one Medigence NABH expert is not able to continue, we immediately follow the knowledge transfer protocols, and within 24 hours, another NABH expert takes care of your project, without any hurdle. The new expert already knows the tasks done by Medigence, tasks done by your hospital, and resumes exactly from where the last expert had left.

Companies are built brick by brick with the hard work, sweat, and efforts of its stakeholders and employees. For a company, its brand image, and its prestige is the most valuable asset. A company is focused to stay and grow for years, and therefore is more sincere towards its responsibilities and commitment.

You can complete your project, as fast as you want

Compared to a freelancer, a company has more resources to dedicate to your project. The company has a combined experience of many experts put together, compared to a single individual freelancer. When you hire a company, the company can help you finish the implementation part of your project as fast as possible, by allocating more resources and manpower to your project.

When you start planning a new hospital

Right time to hire a NABH consultant is when you start planning your new hospital. At Medigence we call it 360 degree NABH planning. Main NABH has a lot of infrastructure compliances, and therefore even if you are planning to go for Entry Level NABH once your hospital starts, its better to plan your hospital according to main NABH.

This will help you take care of Main NABH infrastructure compliances at the planning stage only.

Medigence coordinates with architects, interior designers, MEP experts, and many other vendors to ensure efficient implementation of

NABH infrastructure compliances, during the planning and construction stage itself.

It’s never too late

Medigence is working with a lot of current hospitals who are already constructed or are operational for many years. Due to 15+ years of experience, Medigence specializes in implementing NABH compliances, with minimal changes in infrastructure and alternative practical solutions. Hospitals going for Entry Level NABH, do not have to worry about infrastructural compliances, as Entry Level NABH does not have any major infrastructural compliances.

Consulting means giving expert advice to other professionals. The scope of NABH cosultant is to advice, guide, & train hospitals, in order to achieve successful implementation of NABH standards. This leads to successful achievement of NABH certification or accreditation.

The scope of NABH consultants may vary a bit, depending on the mutual discussion between a consultant and the hospital. Usually supervision and ensuring the implementation of the NABH standards does not fall in the consultant scope. The consultant can train and guide the staff on how to implement the NABH standards, but someone at the hospital end has to take the responsibility of ensuring that proper protocols are followed by the staff.

Just because a person was part of some NABH implementation at some hospital, the person cannot be called a NABH consultant. Recently there are many self proclaimed NABH consultants, who are either doing a job in some hospital, and were just part of the NABH implementation committee, for their hospital.

If you are planning to hire a NABH consultant, it is important for you to distinguish between an individual who knows things about NABH and an entity who is a professional NABH consultant. Because NABH is not only about implementing the standards, or training the hospital staff, but is also about liasioning with NABH authorities, filling up the NABH form, communicating with assessors, and commenting on NABH non compliance closures.

There are many instances where inexperienced individuals tried to manage NABH projects for other hospitals, and then created big problems for the hospitals, because of the wrong applications, improper commenting, and uploading totally wrong evidence for the non compliances.

There are many individuals and doctors who try to help other doctors and hospitals, thinking that because they have faced NABH assessment once, they can do it for other hospitals. The fact is NABH standards and its tasks vary with each speciality, and are quite unique for each hospital. There are so many factors which affect the NABH implementation, that a copy paste mindset will not at all work, and will actually damage the reputation and morale of the hospital.
