NABH Accreditation Journey of Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital and Research Centre, Dharampur with Medigence
Turning a vision for affordable quality healthcare into the reality of nationally accredited center of excellence – the NABH journey of Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital reflects how the combination of intent and discipline, systems and a deep commitment to patient care can transform into a successful accreditation within a short time frame.
Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital and Research Centre, Dharampur was established in 2004 as a 40-bed charitable hospital and grew steadily to serve the healthcare needs of the community. With increase in patient footfall in the hospital, it expanded to a 100 beds hospital while upholding its values of accessible and affordable care to the patients, inspired by Pujya Gurudevshri’s vision.
As the hospital’s dedication to serve the healthcare needs of the community grew, a new 250-bed state-of-the-art facility was inaugurated in 2022 to meet evolving patient needs. The hospital’s commitment towards quality is reflected since its inception as the institution has always been aligned with the NABH-related compliances. During the planning and design phase of the latest facility, Medigence Solutions served a strategic advisory role as we guided them during this phase to ensure infrastructure, workflows, and departmental planning were aligned with the NABH standards.
What was the hospital's vision?
The goal to strengthen patient quality and safety culture motivated the hospital to undergo NABH accreditation journey, not just as a certification achievement, but as a step toward clinical and operational excellence along with readiness for empanelment, be it government schemes or insurance companies tie-ups.
The hospital approached Medigence in 2021 while it was still under construction. This ensured that their infrastructure and patient flow were in line with the NABH guidelines and there was no redesigning after the hospital started its functions later on.
Medigence Roadmap and Approach
Medigence worked alongside the hospital to execute a structured and practical accreditation roadmap to prepare the staff for real assessment scenarios. The scope included the following but not limited to:
- Comprehensive gap assessment with practical suggestions and recommendations on infrastructure and biomedical equipment, manpower requirement, statutory and regulatory requirement SOPs standardisation including policies, procedures and workflows across all departments
- Documentation streamlining including medical records, forms, formats, checklists and registers to be maintained
- Department-wise training in the native language including Hindi and Gujarati
This structured roadmap and approach towards each gap along with the mock assessments for audit awareness and preparedness led to a strengthened documentation system, well-built staff capacity, aware and confident staff members and an overall positive outlook, all while undergoing regular operational and clinical practice.
