Medigence Solutions specializes in assisting healthcare institutions with accreditation and operational enhancements. One of our most rewarding projects was supporting Jivraj Mehta Hospital, a 205-bed multi-specialty hospital in Ahmedabad, in achieving NABH accreditation within a six-month timeline. The hospital, renowned for its excellence in specialties like cardiology, oncology, neurology, and paediatrics, is committed to patient-centric, high-quality healthcare.
Many elderly employees who had been with the hospital for years were hesitant to adopt new protocols and practices required for NABH accreditation. Their reluctance stemmed from long-established work habits and apprehension about adapting to updated systems and technologies.
The hospital faced a challenge in meeting NABH’s qualification standards, as a significant portion of the staff comprised Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs). While they had extensive hands-on experience, their formal qualifications did not always align with the accreditation requirements, necessitating additional training and upskilling initiatives.
The existing register formats were not structured properly, leading to inconsistencies in record-keeping. Additionally, the hospital maintained an excessive number of registers, which increased the administrative burden on staff, diverting their time from patient care and operational efficiency. Streamlining documentation was essential to reduce workload and improve compliance with NABH standards.
While the hospital already had effective practices in place, refining and standardizing processes was essential to align with NABH accreditation requirements.
To address resistance to change, elderly staff members were appointed as departmental champions and actively involved in the accreditation process. This helped them understand the necessity of streamlining and upgrading existing workflows.
Experienced ANM staff were assigned key roles such as CSSD in-charge and OPD in-charge, leveraging their expertise to enhance operations in a cost-effective manner.
The issue of manual record-keeping was resolved by transitioning registers to Google Sheets, reducing paperwork and improving accessibility.
Google Forms were introduced to evaluate staff performance after training sessions, enabling HR to efficiently track and maintain training records for compliance.
